The rules for using Sentia — including the one about medical advice.
Last updated 9 August 2026
Read this first
Sentia is a study aid for exams. It is not medical advice and must never be used to
make a decision about a real patient. Question content and AI answers can be wrong, outdated or
simplified for teaching. Always check current clinical guidelines and a qualified clinician.
1. This agreement
These Terms are a contract between you and Samuel Bonne ("Sentia", "we", "us"). They cover the Sentia desktop app,
the Sentia web app, the Sentia Market, and the accounts and cloud services behind them.
By creating an account or using Sentia you agree to these Terms and to the
Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your data. If you do not
agree, please do not use Sentia.
2. What Sentia is — and is not
Sentia is a study platform for medical exams: a question engine, a personal question-bank library, a
marketplace where users share question banks, and an AI study assistant called Ask Sentia.
Sentia is not medical advice
Everything in Sentia — question stems, options, explanations, images, and anything Ask Sentia
generates — exists for exam preparation. It is not clinical guidance, not a diagnosis,
not a treatment recommendation, and must not be used to make any decision about the care of a real
person.
Much of the content is written by other users, and even the best of it ages. Medicine changes,
guidelines are revised, and material written to teach an exam point is often deliberately simplified.
Always verify against current guidelines and primary sources, and defer to a qualified clinician and
your institution's protocols. If you are a patient who has found your way here: Sentia is not for you —
please speak to a doctor.
AI output can be confidently wrong
Ask Sentia is a large language model. It can state false things fluently and cite things that do not
exist. Treat its answers as a study prompt to check, never as an authority. You are responsible for
verifying anything you rely on.
No promises about results, no affiliation
We do not guarantee any exam outcome. Sentia is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or
accredited by the NBME, the USMLE program, the Medical Council of Canada, the GMC, or any other
examining or licensing body. Exam names appear only to describe what a question bank covers, and remain
the trademarks of their owners.
3. Your account
You must be at least 16 years old to have a Sentia account.
Accounts are personal and belong to one person. Do not share your account, your email inbox access,
or a sign-in code with anyone else.
Give us an email address that works and keep access to it — it is how you sign in, and how we reach
you about billing and security.
You are responsible for everything done through your account.
If you think someone else is using your account, email admin@mysentia.app and
we will help you lock it down.
We may grant complimentary access to staff and to the moderators who review Market submissions. That
access is for running the service, not a paid plan, and can be withdrawn at any time.
4. Acceptable use
When you use Sentia, you agree not to:
Upload content you do not have the right to upload. In particular, do not upload
commercial question banks you did not write, and do not upload live, retired, recalled or
reconstructed items from a real exam. Reproducing actual exam questions breaches examining bodies'
rules and, usually, copyright law. It is grounds for immediate removal and termination.
Upload patient-identifiable information, in a question, an image, a note or a prompt.
Upload anything unlawful, malicious, hateful, harassing, deceptive, or containing malware.
Scrape, bulk-download, resell or redistribute other users' question banks, or extract content from
Sentia to build a competing library.
Reverse engineer the app, circumvent paywalls or tier limits, share a paid account, or run automated
tools against the AI allowance or the Market.
Abuse the moderation process — resubmitting removed content, manipulating ratings, or using share
codes to distribute material that would fail review.
Interfere with the service, its security, or anyone else's use of it.
5. Your content, and the licence you give us
"Your Content" means anything you put into Sentia: question banks, questions, explanations, images,
audio, notes, ratings and comments.
You keep ownership
Your question banks are yours. Uploading one to Sentia does not transfer ownership,
and we make no claim to the intellectual property in what you write.
Content you keep private
For content you back up but do not publish, we store and process it only to provide the service to
you: backup, sync between your devices, restore, and fixing problems you report to us. We do not publish
it, sell it, or use it to train models.
Content you publish to the Market
When you publish a question bank to the Sentia Market — whether publicly or as an unlisted listing
reachable by share code — you grant Samuel Bonne a worldwide, non-exclusive,
royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, reformat for display, transmit and
distribute that content to Sentia users, and to display its title, description, cover image and short
excerpts in the Market and in material promoting the Market.
That licence exists for one reason: without it we cannot legally deliver your bank to the people who
download it. It does not let us sell your bank as our own work, and it ends when you unpublish the
listing — apart from copies already delivered to users, and a short technical wind-down while caches and
backups clear.
By publishing, you confirm that you own the content or have the rights to license it as described, and
that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
If you download someone else's bank
Downloading gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to study from that content inside Sentia. It
does not let you redistribute it, republish it, or sell it.
Unlisted listings are not private
An unlisted listing does not appear in the Market, but anyone holding its share code can open it, and
they can pass that code on. Treat unlisted as "quietly public", never as a security control.
6. Moderation and removal
Public listings are reviewed before they appear. We may approve a submission, ask for revisions, or
decline it.
We may remove, unpublish or restrict any content at any time — including content already approved —
if we believe it breaches these Terms, infringes someone's rights, is dangerously inaccurate, or
creates legal risk for Sentia or its users.
Review is a good-faith check, not a guarantee. Approval is not our endorsement of the content and
not a warranty that it is accurate, current or lawful.
If your submission is declined or removed you will see the reason on the listing. You can revise and
resubmit, or write to admin@mysentia.app to appeal.
Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Sentia infringes your copyright, email
admin@mysentia.app with: what work was infringed, where the infringing content is
in Sentia (the listing name and, if you can, a link or share code), your contact details, and a
statement that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them. We remove infringing content and
terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
7. Our intellectual property
The Sentia app, its name, logo, interface, design language and code are ours (or our licensors').
These Terms give you the right to use the service as intended and nothing more — no right to copy the
app, its branding, or its design.
8. Plans, billing, trials and refunds
The plans
Free — the full quiz engine, downloads from the Market, study records synced to your
account across devices, and a small daily Ask Sentia allowance.
Pro — everything in Free, plus creating, importing, editing and exporting your own
question banks, publishing to the Market, private cloud backup of your own banks with 500 MB of media
storage, and a much larger daily AI allowance.
Current prices, allowances and limits are shown in the app at the moment you subscribe. Those are the
authoritative figures, and we may change them for future billing periods with notice.
Billing
Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the interval you chose — monthly
or yearly — until you cancel. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax we are required to collect,
unless stated otherwise at checkout.
Free trials
First-time subscribers may be offered a free trial of a stated length. A payment method is required to
start one. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid
subscription at the price shown when you signed up. One trial per person: we take reasonable
technical steps to detect repeat trials, and we may refuse or end a trial we believe is a duplicate.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from Settings, which opens Stripe's billing portal. Cancelling stops the
next renewal; you keep your paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do
not pro-rate part-periods.
Refunds
Your statutory rights come first. If the law where you live gives you a right to cancel or to a refund
— for example the EU/UK right to withdraw from a distance contract — you have it, and nothing in these
Terms takes it away.
Beyond that, subscription fees are generally non-refundable, including for periods you did not use. But
we are not looking to keep money you did not mean to spend: if you were charged in error, or something
genuinely went wrong, email admin@mysentia.app within 14 days of the charge and we
will look at it fairly.
If payment fails, or you downgrade
If a payment fails or you cancel, your account returns to Free. Your study records stay — they are free
on every tier. Your own question banks remain on your device, and your local copies are never touched.
Cloud backups of your own banks become read-only; if you are over the storage available on your new
tier, we may remove the excess after emailing you and giving you at least 30 days to export it.
Price changes
We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before a renewal at a new price, so you can cancel
first if you would rather not pay it.
9. Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep Sentia running, but we do not promise any particular uptime. The service may be
unavailable for maintenance, or for reasons outside our control. We may add, change or remove features
as the product develops.
If we ever discontinue Sentia entirely, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your
question banks and records before it closes.
10. Third-party services
Sentia is built on services we do not control: Stripe (payments), Supabase (database, auth, storage),
Netlify (web hosting), Resend (email), PostHog (analytics, only while you have analytics switched on)
and a third-party AI model provider (Ask Sentia). Their own terms govern their part of the chain, and
their availability and behaviour are outside our control. The Privacy
Policy says exactly what each one receives.
11. Disclaimers
Sentia is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all
implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and
non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any content in it —
including question banks published by other users and answers produced by Ask Sentia — is accurate,
complete, current or suitable for any purpose, clinical or academic.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions. Where that is the case, they apply to you only as far
as the law allows, and your non-excludable rights are unaffected.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost
profits, lost study time, lost or corrupted data, or exam outcomes.
Our total liability for all claims relating to Sentia is limited to the greater of (a) the amount
you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) USD 100.
We are not liable for how you apply anything learned in Sentia to the care of a real
patient. Section 2 is a condition of using this service, not a formality.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including death or personal
injury caused by our negligence, and fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
13. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of content you published or because you broke these Terms
— most realistically, because you uploaded questions that were not yours to upload — you agree to cover
our reasonable costs and damages in defending it. We will tell you promptly about any such claim and
will not settle it without talking to you first.
14. Termination
You can stop using Sentia at any time, and can have your account deleted — the
Privacy Policy explains how, and exactly what is removed.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms. We will give
notice where it is practical to do so, and act immediately where the risk is serious — copyright
infringement, distributing real exam material, fraud, or abuse of other users.
On termination, paid features stop and unused subscription time is not refunded unless the law
requires it or we terminated you without cause.
Clauses that should outlive the account survive it: ownership, licences you granted for content
still published, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Quebec, Canada, and the courts of
Quebec, Canada have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from
them.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protections of the mandatory law of the country
where you live, or of any right you have to bring proceedings there.
Before anything formal, please email admin@mysentia.app. Almost everything is
faster to fix that way.
16. Changes to these Terms
We post updated Terms here and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights,
we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Sentia after that
means you accept the new Terms; if you do not, stop using Sentia and cancel any subscription.
